Welcome to my Blog, glad you are here
Gardening in short growing season climates, starting indoors, tips and tricks.
Edmonton, being located in Alberta, Canada, has a unique climate that can present both challenges and opportunities for gardeners. I have been gardening in the Emdonton area for the last several years in a few different locations. Please join me as I share my experiences and learn from my mistakes as I share what works best.

I first started gardening to have some greenery during the winter. I had a few friends who advised on the necessity for some green to get through Edmonton’s exceptionally long winter. I had just purchased my first home- which came with a rather large, raised garden bed in the backyard. I was thrilled at the opportunity to fill it with plants, especially since I was newly transitioning from condo life. And as I nurtured my little plant babies for the first time, I discovered my love for growing things.
There is something truly magical and rewarding about planting, nurturing, and witnessing growth. And there's nothing quite like the taste of a homegrown carrot or tomato. Store-bought produce simply doesn't compare.
As you can imagine, starting something new comes with its challenges, especially when you live in a climate like Edmonton that experiences extreme temperature fluctuations. One day it can be 21 degrees Celsius and the next day -20 degrees Celsius; you never know what to expect. Therefore, it's important to always be prepared to care for your plants through these weather changes.
While my preference lies in growing vegetables because I can enjoy eating them, over the past two years I've also ventured into growing simple flowers that require less complex care. With this blog, I aim to create a platform where I can share my experiences and inspire others on their gardening journey. I will provide practical tips and techniques without delving too much technical details. So no soil pH testing or precise composition ratios for creating the perfect medium. Nor will I discuss the exact number of daylight hours required to grow the perfect tomato. Consider me an attentive but laid-back gardener—I enjoy doing things right but with minimal effort possible.
This blog will be interactive, so please feel free to comment, offer suggestions, ask questions, or request specific topics for discussion. Im looking forward to sharing.
